Mr. Aikins was born in Seattle and raised in Portland and Milwaukie. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific and received two Purple Hearts. After the war, he graduated from Oregon State College and lived in Eureka, Calif., before returning in the early 1960s, and lived in several areas of Oregon. He owned Imperial Engineering in Lake Oswego, where he moved in 1972. In 1951, he married Blanche Furner; she died in 2001.

Survivors include his sons, Scott N., Brian S. and Warren D.; brother, Warren A.; and one grandchild.
