Obituary-
J.L.Williamson killed Monday in accident. Falls under wheels of rolling freight car.
Joseph Leon Williamson, 51, 673 North Walnut Street was killed beneath the wheels of a freight car, Monday at 12:05 p.m.at his work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Employed at rhe base for more than 10 years, Williamson recently had injured his back and was unable to operate a crane, his usual work. Instead he was helping to load a car with scrap metal at the coal yard in Ares C; when the car began to roll toward heavily-traveled Skeel Avenue. He ran alongside the rolling gondola, climbed aboard the moving car and tried to set the brake, witnesses said, when apparently his foot slipped and he fell beneath the wheels which passed across his waist.
Mr. Williamson was born near Lumberton Ohio, August 22, 1903, the son of Alphus Allen and Emma Linkhart Williamson and was married to Miss Mildred Cox on Dec 10 1925. He was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters. Phyllis Joan (Mrs. Gene Hill) and Miss Janet Williamson of Wilmington one brother, George Williamson of Dayton; four sisters, Mrs Robert Beth and Mrs. Donald Ballard of Wilmington RFD3, Mrs Laura Moore of Sabina and Mrs. William Head of Dayton and one grandson, Rickey Hill.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 P.M. at the Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. Herman M, Pafton in charge and burial will be in Lees Creek Cemetery.
