Mary Jane was the 4th child of 9 born to Thomas Jackson and Mary Jane Price in Tilbury West, now Lakeshore, Essex, Ontario, Canada. Her parents immigrated from Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1843. She married her sweetheart on their shared birthday, May 31st, in 1870. She was a true 'doctor's wife' assisting him with his practice. In 1902 the family decided to make the big move from Ontario, Canada to Fowler, Fresno, California, seeking a warmer climate. Mary Jane's sister Sarah Ann Jackson and her husband, George Peter Elliott and their family had made the move to Fowler some 15 years prior. Fowler was a newly developed farming community without paved roads or electricity until about 1910. Mary Jane and Dr. John settled right in, becoming very active in the community up until their untimely deaths.

SUDDEN PASSING OF MRS. J. GOLDEN

The community was sorely shocked early Wednesday morning by the announcement of the death of Mrs. John Golden, widow of Dr. Golden, for the opinion prevailed that she was on the way to recovery. At 9:30 on Tuesday evening she had been chatting with the nurse hopefully of her condition. The nurse stepped to the door of the apartment for a moment and upon turning back found that the noble spirit had flown. Like a flash the Messenger came and was gone. It was indeed a sad moment for the son and daughter, who had just gone out of the room happy in the thought that "Mother" was recovering -as it seemed she was half an hour before. They have the profound sympathy of everybody in the community.
Mrs. Mary Jane Golden was taken ill very soon after the death of her husband, Dr. John Golden, which occurred three weeks ago Tuesday, and her illness developed into pneumonia. But after two weeks she was pronounced out of danger from this, but heart affection manifested itself, and resulted in a sudden but peaceful end.
Deceased was born in Canada, 75 years ago this May 31, and as Mary Jackson was wedded to Dr. Golden May 31, 52 years ago this month. It was also the birthday anniversary of Dr. Golden. Two years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at which time they enjoyed a family reunion.
Besides a daughter, Miss Charlotte Golden, a teacher in the Fresno schools, two sons - Rev. George Golden of Bisbee, Arizona, and J. Stanley Golden of Ontario, Canada -survive. Deceased also leaves one sister, Mrs. Geo. Elliott of Alameda, and two brothers and two sisters in Ontario, Canada.
The funeral services will be held at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Watters of the Selma Episcopal church will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery (Fresno). Beall-Clement Co. will have charge of the funeral.
A gentle, loving wife and mother, kind friend, and good neighbor has gone to her just reward, but her good deeds and example of a Christian life live after her and hallow her memory.
