PASSING OUT OF DR. J. GOLDEN
CAME HERE FROM CANADA 16 YEARS AGO -WAS A STRONG CHARACTER AND ABLE MAN.
Dr. John Golden, for the past 18 years a highly respected physician of Fowler, passed away at 4:30 o'clock yesterday morning, April 26th, after five weeks of intense suffering.
For many years he had been a sufferer from bodily ills, and had sought many changes of climate, but found his health was best here in the San Joaquin Valley. Since 1906, he has been identified with the Fowler community, where he has held a prominent place in the medical profession. For several years he had an office in Bowles as well as this city, and was active until his last illness.
Dr. Golden was a student of the University of Toronto, Canada, and also Ann Arbor, Michigan. All his life he had been a deep student of history as well as medicine, and no man in the community kept in closer touch with world events, or possessed a sounder judgment on world politics. In his religious affiliation he was an Episcopalian, and was a devout student of the Bible, from which he derived great solace during his last days for he realized his earthly career was nearing its end.
Dr. John Golden was born in the British Isles, May 31, 1843, and when nine years of age was brought to Canada. He was an Anglo-Saxon of the old school of strong, upright character; of inflexible will; just man, good citizen and neighbor, and kind and sympathetic husband and father. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as the man that he was.
Besides the widow, three children survive; J. Stanley Golden of Winnipeg; Rev. George Golden of Bisbee, Arizona; and Miss Charlotte Golden, teacher in the Fresno City Schools.
The funeral services will be held at the home Saturday at 10 A.M. and interment will be had in a Fresno cemetery (Mountain View Cemetery).
