Ann M. Habas, age 91 of Ashland, WI passed away Saturday, Dec 12, 2015 at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland, with her loving family at her side. Ann was born Aug 30, 1924 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of James J. and Lula M. (Carter) Mulloy.
She was united in marriage to John R. Habas in Ashland. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was very affectionately known as the "Candy Grandma" having owned and operated the Corner Store on the corner of Beaser and 6th street in Ashland for many years. She loved planning family gatherings, baking, cooking and fusing over the details to make the occasion special. Next to her family, she loved her canine companions. She enjoyed bingo, fishing and her beloved Packers.
Survivors include her children: Robert (Linda) Munich of Brookings, South Dakota, John (Patsy) Munich of South Range, WI, Charlie Munich of Ashland, WI, Diane (Dennis) Olby of Ashland, WI, James Habas of Ashland, WI, Laurie (Robert) Henri of Ashland, WI and John (April) Habas of Rice Lake, WI; brother, William (Elizabeth) Mulloy of Quincy, MA; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Habas in 1977; mother-in-law, Mary Habas; son, Anthony J. Munich, Jr. in 2004; grandson, Anthony J. Munich III in 2001; four brothers and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ann will be celebrated at 12:00 Thursday, Dec 17, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland, with Father Balaraju Policetty as celebrant. Ann's casket bearers will include: Bronson Newago, Reggie Habas, Roger Neff, Robert Munich, Charlie Munich, Averie Habas, Daniel Munich, Robert A. Munich, and Tom Munich.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Church in Ashland and continue until the hour of service.
Interment will take place in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Ashland, WI.
