Funeral Services Feb. 2 For Michael Kinney, Formerly Of Baring
Michael William Kinney of Route 2 Hannibal, a retired farmer who was born and reared in the Baring vicinity, died Saturday night, Jan. 30, 1965, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hannibal. He was 81 years old and had been hospitalized about a week. Joe Kinney of Baring is a brother.
Funeral services were the following Tuesday morning at the St. Joseph Catholic Church here with his son, the Rev. Thomas Kinney, C. S. V., officiating and burial was in the church cemetery.
He is also survived by his wife, the former Anna Theresa Whalen of Baring, whom he married Feb. 16, 1914, and three sons and three daughters. They are the Rev. Kinney, mentioned above and who is chaplain at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and William J. Kinney, also of Hannibal, and Paul J. Kinney pf Palmyra; Mary, Mrs. Thomas C. Maupin, of Lakenan, Ann Teresa, Mrs. Bernard Buchanan, of Paris and Pauline, Mrs. Richard Weir, of Moberly. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren.
Mr. Kinney was born June 12, 1883, a son of Michael and Mary Morley Kinney. After his marriage to Miss Whalen they made their home in Knox County for several years then moved to Clarence and later to the Shelbina and Monroe City area. They were parents of nine children, the six who survive and three sons who preceded their father in death. A son, Pfc. Joseph F. Kinney, was killed in action May 23, 1945, while serving in the Pacific area.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother.
