Death of Dr. FRANCIS.
The people of Norfolk were shocked to learn of the death of Dr. J. T. FRANCIS, one of the most promising of the younger physicians of this city, which occurred at his home, No 188 Freemason street, Sunday afternoon, after a brief illness from typhoid fever. He was a son of Mr. John T. Francis, and was 33 years of age. He leaves a widow and one child. Mrs. Francis is a niece of General R.E. Lee. Dr. FRANCIS was President of the Norfolk Medical Association, which met yesterday at the Masonic Temple and passed resolutions of respect and condolence. Dr. Francis was a graduate of the University of Virginia, New York University and also of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, of New York. His funeral will take place at 1 p.m. today from Christ P.E. Church.

The funeral of Dr. John T. Francis, President of the Norfolk Medical Association, and a practicing physician of this city, whose death was announced yesterday, took place this afternoon from Christ Episcopal Church, and was conducted by the rector, Rev. O.S. Barten, D.D. The obsequies were attended by a number of physicians of Norfolk. The interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The pall-bearers were selected from the Medical Association, the Lee Rifles (of which the deceased was a non-commissioned officer), and from among other friends. The Rifles were out in citizen dress.
