Gerald Edwin Aune was born on April 3, 1933 in Hendricks, Minnesota, to parents Andrew O. and Bessie (Moen) Aune. He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Hendricks where he was a member until joining Christ Lutheran Church. He graduated from Hendricks High School. After graduating, Jerry attended General Beadle College in Madison, SD. He taught special education for a few years and also taught at the country school near Singsaas Church for a short time. Jerry went to beauty school in Sioux Falls, SD, where he later joined the faculty. He operated beauty shops in Toronto and Astoria, SD. In later years, Jerry was the X-ray technician at the Hendricks Community Hospital. He cooked at various locations in the surrounding area and cleaned for various businesses in the area.

Jerry enjoyed helping anyone in need. His ready sense of humor brought smiles to those around him, especially his nieces and nephews who meant so much to him. Jerry knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at Calvary Lutheran for many years. Jerry was artistic and musical. Some of his hobbies included decorating, painting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Personalized doilies made by Jerry were given to many friends and family members. Jerry played the piano and organ by ear. He helped out at the Hendricks Senior Center when needed and peeled countless potatoes at Irene's by Julie. For a number of years, until her passing, Jerry was his mother's caregiver.

Grateful for having shared Jerry's life are his brothers and sisters-in-law: Faye Wahl of Hendricks, Milton and Betty (Aune) Johnson of Hendricks, Marilys Aune of Canby, Lorraine Aune of Flandreau, SD, and Dennis Olson of Montevideo, MN; five nieces and four nephews and a close friend, Don Hardy, of Texas, his family; and numerous cousins and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew (Bessie) Aune; his brothers and sisters, Orrin Aune, Verona Johnson, Roger Aune, Andor Aune, Maxine Olson, and Gordy Aune; one niece, one nephew, and his close friend Dr. LeRoy Mueller.

Blessed be his memory.
