Harold Ball, 89, of Quanah, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, in Lubbock. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the Chapel at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah with the Rev. Wayne Hollinshead and James Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Ball was born December 9, 1924, to the late Abner C. and Annie Robbins Ball in Tyler, Texas. He married Muriel Dean Ball on January 20, 1947, in Quanah. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1943 and served in the United States Navy amphibious forces in the Pacific front during World War II. He worked for Lake Pauline Power, which later became West Texas Utilities, as a maintenance foreman. He retired in 1986 after 39 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing as well as woodworking and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel D. Ball of Lubbock; two sons, Steve Ball and wife Vicki of Lubbock and Rob Ball of Quanah; three grandchildren,; three great-grandchildren.
