Quincy Herald Whig, July 1950. Rites Held For Mrs. Bertha Houdyshell, Ursa. Mrs. Bertha Houdyshell, wife of Amual Houdyshell of Ursa, passed away in her home at Ursa July 15 at 1:50 at the age of 57. She had been seriously ill for six months.
Mrs. Housdyshell was born January 7, 1893 in Ursa Township, a daughter of William and Lillie McCormick Anderson. She was married to Amual Houdyshell of Ursa February 23, 1916 who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Pansy Warning, a brother, Chester Anderson, one niece and two nephews, two great nieces and one aunt all of Ursa. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
She was a lifelong member of the Ursa Christian church and was president of the Ever Ready Sunday School class at the time of her death. She was also an active member of the Willing Helpers Society, and was always prominent in the Golden Leaf Rebekah Lodge where she had long been a member. Mrs. Houdyshell was acting president of the Rebekah co-operative association.
