Period of Poor Health
Mrs. Ella May Buck of 6 North Church Street, 76, widow of Addison E. Buck, died in this city this morning at 7 o'clock following a lengthy period of failing health.
Mrs. Buck was born at Exter, Otsego county on Nov. 5, 1851 and she was the only child of the late Wilbur and Eunice Angell May. Her parents moved to a farm in West Cortland in 1856, coming into the village about 1869.
Mrs. Buck acquired her education from the state Normal Training school of Cortland and after the completion of her course in 1874 she taught for one year at Jordan.
Her marriage to Addison E. Buck was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents in Cortland on Dec. 1, 1875. One child was born to the couple, Allie, the death of the daughter taking place in December 1919. Addison E. Buck, who for many years was a well known hardware merchant of this city and a member of the Arts of Brack A. Lean(?), died in Cortland Jan. 29, 1923.
Mrs. Buck was a charter member of the First Congregational church of this city and prio to her failing health she was always active and loyal in every phase of the church activities...
