Mrs. Morrell was born March 12, 1912 in Carter County and was the daughter of Nancy Treadway and William Ben Allen.
Mrs. Morrell was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Peabody College in Nashville.
Her husband of 58 years, Howard Morrell, preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Morrell is survived by two children, Dr. Ben Allen Morrell Sr., Johnson City, and Dyanne Frazier and her husband, Dr. Arnold Frazier, Cornelius, N.C.; six grandchildren, James Frazier, Brian Frazier, Lt. Jon Frazier, USN, Ben Morrell Jr. and wife Millie Ann, Daniel Morrell and wife Jamie, and Kelly Morrell; a great-grandchild, Jackson Morrell; a brother, William "Bill" Allen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate the life of Bernice Morrell will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, from the sanctuary of the First Christian Church of Elizabethton with Don Marshall and Brent Nidiffer officiating.
Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the church from noon until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent
to the First Christian Church, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643, or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 4219 Hillsboro Road, Suite 306, Nashville, TN 37215, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
