Zaven Noobar "Doc" Masoomian passed away on October 11, 2013, in Plano, TX. He was born February 18, 1921, in Worcester, MA, the son of Armenian immigrants. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margie Mercer. He is survived by sons Stephen and Charles, daughters Nancy and Janet, grandsons Alex, Ryan, and August, and granddaughters Jennifer, Kristin, and Akira, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was a World War II veteran who served as a B-17 pilot, was a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft I and got a Purple Heart for wounds received in action. His love of classical music and radios led to a career at station WQXR in New York City as a Radio Broadcast Engineer. He retired as the station's Chief Engineer in 1986 after a distinguished 44-year career. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, with visitation at 10 a.m. A reception follows. Burial will be at Dallas Forth Worth National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 321, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 612, the North Central Texas Chapter American Ex-Prisoners of War (of which he was Commander) the Prestonwood Baptist Church Men's Bible Class, and the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
