Stephen Edward Herbert, 72, died suddenly at his home, 1301 South Monroe street, at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He was on his way home from work at Warner Gear Plant No. 3 and suffered a heart attack at Eighth street and Hoyt avenue. He was taken home from there, but died before aid arrived.
Mr. Herbert had suffered a heart attack about two weeks ago and was under a doctor's care, but reported for work anyway. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church and Warner Gear local of the CIO.
Surviving are the widow, Blanche; one daughter, Miss Nellie Herbert, at home; and two brothers, Peter C. and William W. Herbert, both of Muncie. The brother William is vacationing in Tampa, Fla.
The body was taken to the Piepho funeral home.
