Lloyd Ross Palmer was born near Fort Ripley, MN on October 27, 1935 to Frank and Wilhelmina Palmer. He was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit on December 22, 1935 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fort Ripley, MN by the Rev. J.H. Klausmeier. Lloyd grew up in Fort Ripley and Brainerd with his parents and three brothers, Verne, Ervin and George. On June 19, 1949 Lloyd made Confirmation of his Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Brainerd, MN with the Rev. Paul Affeldt. Lloyd graduated from Brainerd High School in 1953 and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN in 1960.

Lloyd was united in holy marriage to Judith Marie Hagen on September 19, 1959 at Christ Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN by the Rev. Karl B. Stroming. They enjoyed raising their three children Mark, Todd and Diana in Staples where Lloyd ran his own business, "Palmer's Accounting and Tax Service."

Lloyd enjoyed playing cards, especially "buck" euchre. He enjoyed fishing and his father Frank gave him a love for deer hunting also. In the 1970s he was on the Staples' City Council. He was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples participating in many areas of church life and served on the Church Council.

Lloyd and Judy spent many years during the winter months at their home in Mesa, Arizona enjoying the sun, golf and many friends from Minnesota. They also really enjoyed their time and friends at Girl Lake in Longville, MN.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Wilhelmina Palmer, his siblings, Verne Palmer, Ervin (Phebe) Palmer, and George (Elaine) Palmer.

He will be deeply missed and is survived by his spouse, Judy Palmer (Staples), children, Mark (Beth), Bonduel, WI, Todd (Cendee), Maple Grove, MN, and Diana (Joel) Ulring, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Emily, Erica, Isaac, Anna, and Abigail Palmer; Allie, Jake, and Paige Palmer; Alicia (Bill) Shupe, Joshua (Chantel) Ulring, and Katlynn Ulring; great-grandchildren, Lydia Shupe and Teagan Ulring; and many nieces and nephews along with a brother and sisters in law, William and Pat Feyo, and Leona Palmer.

In a personal testimony, Lloyd wrote, "The greatest thing that eternal life has meant to me is the security which I need so desperately that when I die I will awaken in heaven with God."

Lloyd went to his eternal home, on October 9, 2013 while at the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples, MN. Lloyd attained the age of 77 years, 11 months and 13 days.

A Funeral Service for Lloyd will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples.

Visitation for Lloyd will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 4:30 - 7:30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 4th Street NE, Staples with a prayer service and sharing of memories from 7:00 - 7:30. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Monday.
