James Gant Conrey, 70, of Louisville, died Sept. 22, 2013. He was a retired salesman for Sentry Insurance and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, Chaplin of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 270, an active member of the American Legion, Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Knights of Columbus and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Beatrice Conrey; and brother, Joseph Conrey. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis Schevetto Conrey; two children, Shannon (Dan) Conrey and Sean (Carol) Conrey; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carole Conrey; and dear friends, Dibbs and Faye Harting. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at his Church, 1520 Hepburn Ave. Visitation Thursday 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Albany, IN.
