According to the East Haven Register by Rev Stephen Dodd pub. 1824- Elijah Bradley was taken prisoner by the British during the American Revolution but apparently survived.

History of East Haven Sarah Hughes pub 1907 pg264- quotes "Connecticut Men in the War of the Revolution", In 1832 a new pension act passed and Elijah Bradley and others were listed as pensioners. Elijah was the only one of the seven confined to the prison ships that lived through that terrible ordeal. In 1840 another pension act passed and Elijah Bradley age 80 was listed as one of the pensioners.
