Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 20, 2013 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Laodis Broussard, age 95, who passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at 7:36 a.m. at his residence in Carencro.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ.

Mr. Broussard was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He was a carpenter by trade and was a hardworking man. Mr. Broussard was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton. He was an avid gardener and loved to give away his vegetables to family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Broussard of Lafayette, Ricky Broussard and companion, Kim Benoit, of Carencro; two daughters, Patsy Babineaux and husband, Larry, of Cankton, Bonnie Babineaux and husband, Fred, of Carencro; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Robley Broussard and wife, Joyce, of Scott, John Broussard and wife, Patsy, of Bayou Benoit; and one sister, Bernice Pourcio of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anata Comeaux Broussard; his parents, Ambroise Broussard and the former Celestine Brasseaux; and one son, Donald "Jim" Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Babineaux, Mundy Fontenot, Troy Broussard, Tammy Briscoe, Buster and Ricky Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Babineaux and Larry Babineaux.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Avenue Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
