Jessie Ella Merkley of Cornville, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She was 96 years old. Jessie was born on June 29, 1917 in Davis, OK to William and Martha (Edgmon) Graham.

Jessie was a homemaker and worked in school cafeterias. She volunteered with the Red Cross Burn Unit and volunteered in schools to help take care of children. She swam in shows with the Phoenix Syncrenets.

She has been involved with the LDS church since 1954 and in addition to her work in the Relief Society; she also worked in the Temple for 16 years.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Merkley and her daughter, Evelyn Garrett. She is survived by three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Services will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cottonwood, located at 1377 E. Hombre Dr., Cottonwood, AZ 86326 on Friday, October 18, 2013.

Visitation will be at 9:30 am with the service at 10 am.

Burial will follow at East Resthaven Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
