Erma Valentine Furlong, died on January 3, 1997 in Brigham City, Utah.
Born April 30, 1907 in Richfield, Colorado to Henry Wilson and Caroline Jensen Valentine.
Married Arlo L. Furlong on May 18, 1929; marriage later solemnized in the Saint George LDS Temple on March 4, 1931. He preceded her in death pm September 5, 1981.
Member of the LDS Church, where she was involved in teaching, leadership and Primary. Worked in several Salt Lake City Boys and Girls Clubs, becoming "mother" to many. She taught crafts, such as painting figurines, sewing and knitting. She showed kids many of the necessary life skills.
Her life primarily revolved around family responsibilities, throughout the several cities in which they lived. She helped her young sons explore each new location, finding the fun and exciting attractions in each. She walked them many miles sharing observations that still effect her sons thinking and enjoyment of animals and the wonderful outdoors in which we live.
Survived by: sons, Douglas L. (Jackie) Furlong, Brigham City, Utah; Don D. (Jeanne) Furlong, Carmel, California; Curtis A. (Marilyn) Furlong, Salt Lake City, Utah; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Lyle Valentine.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the Mountain View Mortuary Estates Mortuary Chapel, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South), where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates.
