The following death notice appeared in the Thorp Courier, Thorp, Wisconsin, on May 12, 1977:
"Mrs. Nora P. Bivans, 97, died Tuesday, May 3, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
"The former Nora Hunnell was born in Marion County, Iowa, and married Willie Bivans November 23, 1897, in Iowa. In 1913, the couple moved to the Thorp area, where they farmed until 1925. They then moved to Stanley, where Mrs. Bivans has since resided.
"Survivors include two sons, Gayle, Loran, both of Stanley; a daughter, Mrs. Floe Halterman, Stanley; a brother, Jesse, Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
"Services were held Friday, May 6, at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Oakland Cemetery."
