BEDFORD - Olive E. Berube, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at the Ridgewood Center after a long illness.

Mrs. Berube was born in Sandown on Sept., 12, 1929, to the late Everett and Evelyn (Brown) Huckins.

She had been a resident in Bedford for the past five years, but for the majority of her life she was a resident of Chester and Derry.

In earlier years, she was a homemaker, but also was employed by Treasure Masters of Derry for a few years. She loved to entertain and sang and played guitar with her sister, Ruby, for a number of years. She was also a regular performer with the Chester Corn Crackers. She enjoyed line dancing at the Derry Community Center and served as Mrs. Santa Claus in the annual Derry Christmas parade for several years. She babysat for several children over the years and was known to all of them as "Mrs. B."

She is survived by her six children, Margaret Beard of Manchester, Marion Tilton of Merrimack, Marilyn Therrien of Auburn, Mary Theos of Londonderry, James Berube of Gorham and Janie Layne Parry of Manchester. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Judy Bixby of Nevada, Sandra Wells of Nevada and Charlotte Johnson of Farmington, as well as her two brothers, Bill Huckins of Union and Ralph Huckins of Sandown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Berube; daughter, Debbie Willey; and her siblings, Ruby Estey, Dorothy Rowan, Betty Cooper and Eddie Huckins.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with cremation to follow. A private burial will be held later at the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the, Greater New Hampshire Chapter 5, Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 201, Bedford 03110.
