Edward A. Guelig, age 71, of 436 E. Main St., Plymouth, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at his home.
He was born June 5, 1934, in St. Joe, a son of the late John and Eleanore Steffen Guelig. He attended school in St. Joe.
Ed worked on the family farm until being employed at Feldner Chevrolet in St. Cloud.
He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
In 1957 he married Lillian Mueller. The couple lived in Plymouth. Ed had worked on the Silver Springs Mink Farm and for Orlando Thiel on his horse farm, as well as operating the Sportsmans Bar in Plymouth several years.
He was employed at the Kohler Co. for 27 years before retiring. On February 1, 1992 he was married to Dorothea Verbic Lisowe. She preceded him in death April 21, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Steven (Janice) Guelig of Cascade; one daughter, Kelly Guelig of Sheboygan; five step-children, Peggy (Allen) Berchem of Sheboygan, Mary (Andy) Russo of Plymouth, Charles (Luella) Lisowe of Hillman, Mich., Joe (Debi) Lisowe and Allen (Mary) Lisowe both of Plymouth; one brother, James Guelig, El Reno, Okla.; and two sisters, Elaine (Leo) Anhalt of Kiel and Mary Ann Tonn of St. Cloud.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. at the Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate. Inurnment will take place in St. John The Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wittkopp Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Friday until the hour of service. The Ladwig-Zingraf American Legion Post will conduct graveside military rites.
