He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Leigh, Nebr., to Eric and Dora Sump. He married Jeanette Heimer in Powell on June 11, 1961.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1953 during the Korean War and was stationed for a time at Trinidad.
He enjoyed having family around him, especially his grandchildren. He loved being on a tractor and farming, and he enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, two daughters, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Richard.
Funeral services are pending.
