WALTER WINTER

Walter H. Winter, 69, of 2314 Woodcrest, died Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 16) at Alpena General Hospital following an apparent heart attack.

Born April 29, 1917, in Ossineke Township, he spent most of his life in the Alpena area, except from 1936-1942, when lived in Detroit, where he was employed by the Timklen Axel Co.

On Oct. 12, 1940, he married Esther Minke at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herron. He returned to the Alpena area in 1942, where he engaged in farming and also worked as a machinist leader at the Besser Co. Following his retirement from Besser, he was employed at Omni Metalcraft until the time of his death.

His wife survives as does a daughter, Debra Winter of Alpena; two sons, Ronald and Gregory of Alpena; four sisters, Esther (Mrs. Cecil) Pelleran of Three Rivers, Ruth Renner of California, Dorothy (Mrs. Carroll) Walter of Mount Morris, and Gertrude Knath of Alpena; three brothers, Reinhard of Alpena, Paul of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Gerald of Glendale, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call after 7 tonight at Wachterhauser Funeral Home. At noon Friday, his body will be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church, where the funeral will be at 2 p.m., with the Rev. James Erickson officiating.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial: Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Heart Fund.
