Lois Jean Brant, 78, of Jefferson, died January 20, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. According to the wishes of the family, Lois Jean was cremated and a private family burial will take place at a later date. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held from 11:00am to 1:00 pm at the Central Christian Church on Saturday, January 24, 2009.
Lois Jean Brant, daughter of Glenn and Marian Cromwell Taylor, was born December 17, 1930 in Jefferson, Iowa. She was raised in Jefferson with her brothers, Wayne and Verne, and sister, Thelma. Lois Jean graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948.
On August 1, 1948, Lois Jean was married to Donald Brant in Jefferson. They were proud parents of six boys: Kirk, Donnie, Kenny, Joe, Jay and Jon. Lois Jean was a homemaker. She picked apples every fall for Deal's Orchard, worked for the Sierra Theatre, and at tax time, worked for H&R Block.
Lois Jean was a member of the 4 and 30 Crossroads CB Club, and the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. She liked putting together jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, cooking and visiting with friends. She enjoyed her sons, family, and many friends.
Lois Jean Brant passed away January 20, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. She was 78 years of age.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Donald, brothers Wayne and Verne, sister Thelma, and two sons, Donnie and Jay.
Lois Jean is survived by her sons: Kirk (Kathy) Brant of Rippey, IA; Kenneth (Nancy) Brant of Ellsworth, IA; Joe (Kim) Brant of Jefferson, IA; and Jon (Lisa) Brant of Rippey, IA. Also surviving are brother-in-law James Nichols of Clinton, IA; three sisters-in-law: Lois Rae Brant, Shirley Stotts and Fern Taylor, all of Jefferson, IA; ten grandchildren: Jamie (Cathy) Brant and Jennifer (Tim) Eiteman, both of Perry; Jeff Brant and Allison Brant, both of Carroll; Eric Brant of Ellsworth; Nickolas (Sarah) Brant, Alexander (Amanda) Brant and Amee (Matt) Kruckenberg, all of Rippey; Derek Brant and Heather Brant, both of Jefferson; several great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Lois Jean will be missed by many.
