RAYMORE, Mo. — Max A. Jacob Jr., 66, former Parsons resident, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at the rehabilitation center in Raymore, Mo. He had lived in Raymore for more than 30 years.

He was a twin born Jan. 1, 1947, in Parsons to Max A. and Meta V. (Nelson) Jacob. He grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1965 and Parsons Junior College in 1967. During his high school years he was employed at the Slaybaugh Drug. Co. and aspired to become a pharmacist.

In 1967 his eyesight began to fail and he was diagnosed with a tumor on the optic nerve and eventually became blind. Later he attended Kansas State Teacher's College at Emporia, graduating in 1973.

Max became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Parsons during his youth. He was a member of the Raymore Lions Club. He took pride in his home and yard and loved his service dogs. He enjoyed walking and fishing. He had been employed in a handicapped workshop facility in Kansas City.

Survivors include his twin sister, Martha Allen and her husband, Larry, of Park City; two nieces, Michelle Steinke and her husband, Jason, of Park City and Farrah Harris and her husband, Dave, of Wichita; four great-nephews and a great-niece; and special friends, Glenna and Abel Trevino of Belton, Mo.

His parents preceded him in death.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Parsons Area Community Foundation Sons and Daughters Fund. They may be left at the funeral home or sent to P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
