Obituary: Mrs. Martha Roddy of Shade Gap died February 15, 1918 at the home of Mr. Martin Fleming's where she was cared for during her illness of eleven weeks, aged 84 years, 4 months and 22 days. She attended school in the Waterloo Academy and in her earlier life taught in Juniata County. She is the last surving member of a family of seven. She leaves one son, Harry Roddy of Lehmaster PA. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 18 in the Presbyterian Church at Shade Gap by Reverend E. G. Spessard, assisted by Reverand Arther Price.
