Lawrence E. (Larry) Houghton, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Oxford Veterans Home, Oxford, N.Y. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara; and his brother, Richard. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lauren and Pat Houghton, Lisle, N.Y.; two daughters, Linda Houghton, Allentown, Pa., Alice Griffith, Hallstead, Pa.; two stepsons, David Luce, Miss., and George and Peggy Barber, Newark Valley; one stepdaughter, Elsie Taggart, Glen Aubrey, N.Y.; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Houghton, Fla. Calvin and Ruth Houghton, Md., Raymond and Wanda Houghton, Fla.; one sister, Rosemond Van Noy, Whitney Point; also several nieces and nephews. Larry was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant in Radio Communications. He was an avid outdoorsman and operated his own radio-TV repair service. He was a retired employee of Modern Design of Vestal.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2004, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 E. Main Street, Endicott. The Rev. Arthur Penird, pastor of the Church of Christ in Christian Union of Endwell will officiate. Burial will be at the family's convenience in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.
