Laurel Elizabeth Holmes, 92, formerly of Bemidji died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids. Funeral services were at Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home in Walker. Burial will Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Mrs. Holmes was born Jan. 8, 1898, at Langdon, N.D., to Joe and Lula Radford. She grew up and attended school there, then taught for several years in the area. After her marriage to L.J. Holmes in 1921, they moved to Grand Forks. They moved to the Bemidji area in 1927 and farmed here until his death in 1961. She had lived at Northland Apartments before moving to Beltrami Nursing Home and then to Woodrest Nursing Home in Walker. She was a member of the East Bemidji Homemakers, East Bemidji Farmers Club and the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Miller of Lake Park and Zola (James) Bleth of Walker; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and six sisters.
