Mason FAUCETT, son of James and Amelia FAUCETT, was born in Taylor township, Greene county, Ind., September 2, 1844 and at his home here he died Mar. 21, 1915. His home was always in Greene county, and almost all his life in Taylor township. He was seventy years, six months and nineteen days old. He was one of a family of nine children—three boys and six girls. One brother, Abram, of Albion, Ill, three sisters, of Bloomfield, Ind., Mrs. Eliza HAYWOOD, Mrs. Jane HAYWOOD, and Mrs. Ida TIMMONS, and one sister of Howard, Kan., Mrs. Martha STONE, survive. The other brother, Eli, of Richland township, died last September. Two sisters Mrs. Lizzie MOULDEN and Mrs. Harriet HAYWOOD are also deceased. In July 1862, he enlisted in the army and re-enlisted in 1864. After the war was over , he was honorably discharged in 1865, having served as a soldier over three years. In 1866 he was married to Sarah A. HAYWOOD. To them were born two sons and three daughters. One son, Charles, died in infancy. The other son, Alvin, and the three daughters, Mrs. Emma Frey, Mrs. Effie CREIGHTON, and Mrs. Mary CATTERN, are living, and not far from the old home. He had been a member of the Christian church about fifty years. He served the congregation at Antioch as Elder for much of this time. Those who knew him best spoke of him with the very highest regard and confidence. As husband and father, as fried and neighbor, as citizen and Christian, he was eminently faithful, loyal and true. He died peacefully of apoplexy on a Sunday evening, March 21. Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday morning, March 23rd, after which the body was laid to rest in the Bloomfield cemetery, beside his companion, who had preceded him less than five months, dying of the same ailment, Nov. 5, 1914. Children be comforted "Them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him."
