Sarah Freelove STRAUSER, daughter of Joel and Elizabeth BYERS, was born in Jackson Township on March 5, 1857. She spent most of her life in Greene County. On April 2, 1874, she was united in marriage to Johiel M. STRAUSER. To this union were born 13 children, 4 of whom preceded her in death. Sarah was a kind and loving mother and wife. She was a constant source of happiness and joy to all who knew her. She was always willing and ready to help her neighbors and many friends in any way she could. Her kindness and loving ways will never be forgotten. She was a firm believer in Christ and attended church regularly as long as her health permitted. She was ill only a short while before her death, but had been in failing health for some time. On May 27, 1943, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 25 days, she very gently fell asleep to rest where she will be free from all pain and suffering. Left to mourn her passing are her aged husband, Johiel, nine children, Joel, Harley, Martin and William STRAUSER and Callie HUFFMAN of Bloomfield, Mettie DOWDEN of Clay City, Minnie MILLER and Arlie SILVERS OF Indianapolis, Mary BOSWELL of Bedford and one sister, Mrs. Alvadore WILSON of Bloomfield, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren 3 great great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
