Tomes, Myrtle Sanders, 91, passed into the arms of Christ at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at her home in the presence of her loving family. She was born October 5, 1922, the daughter of Pat and Laura Mae Priddy Sanders. She was born in Edmonson County, KY on the land that is present day Mammoth Cave National Park. She was baptized in Rhoda Creek and a member of Otter Gap Baptist Church in Edmonson County, KY. She has gone to her Heavenly Father to join her parents; her beloved husband Dewey Tomes; sons, Jessie Earl Tomes Sr. and Billy Ray Tomes; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and son-in-law, Steve Toliver. She was a full-time homemaker and mother to 12 children and is survived by Edward LeRoy Tomes (Nancy) of Corydon, IN, James Elzie Tomes Sr. (Phyllis) of Georgetown, Larry Joe Tomes (Linda) of Louisville, Judith Elaine Taylor (Charlie) of Corydon, Roger Dale Tomes (Janice) of Indianapolis, IN, Glenna Darlene Toliver of Madison, IN, Sherry Ann Richmond (Ronnie) of Dallas, TX, Ronald Dean Tomes (Bonita) of Clarksville, IN, Cathy Sue Tomes of Georgetown, and Laura Regina Tomes of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Sallie Jo Tomes (Jessie) of Corydon; 35 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lela Abney (Carl) of Lafayette, IN, Pearl Hatfield of Denver, CO and Thelma Ruth Myers (Eddie) of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom deeply mourn her loss, but our loss is the gain of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown. Interment will follow at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown.
