Son of Stephen and Eveline (Stetson) Trask. Eveline died in 1817 shortly after giving birth to her 9th child; father Stephen died in 1823, and Daniel was placed under guardianship due to his young age. (Worcester Co. Probate Court Record Index; Case #59841.) Left to care for him was his step-mother, Betsey Sprague, who married his father Stephen in 1818. Betsey m. David Scott in 1825 following Stephen's death.

Daniel married in Enfield about 1831-32 Esther A. Hanks. They had one child: Elizabeth Trask, born 4 Nov 1833.
