Funeral Mass will be recited in the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin with his son, the Rev. Fr. William Volk, the celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Summers Funeral Home with a prayer service.
Mr. Volk was a native of Jasper County and lived most of his lifetime there, where he operated a farm. He was the son of Anton Volk and Philomena Rauch Volk. He was married to Sophia Dorn the year of 1910. Mr. Volk was a lifelong member of the Holy Cross Church at Wendelin.
He leaves his wife, Sophia, and the following children: The Rev. Fr. William Volk of Rome, Italy, Neil and Delbert Volk, both of Olney, Gilbert Volk, Mrs. Annette Weber, and Mrs. Cathryn Fehrenbacher, all of Ingraham, Joe Volk of Wakefield, Odillo Volk of Anton, Ohio and Mrs. Lucille Dallmier of Willow Hill.
There are 61 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers and three sisters: Anton and Henry Volk, both of Ingraham, Mrs.Elizabeth McKee of Delphus,Ohio, Mrs. Agatha Mundy of Bemont and Mrs. Minnie Kocher of Newton.
His parents, a son, Urban Volk, who was killed in the service of his country, three infant sons, three grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters have preceded him in death: Frank Volk, Kate Kistner, Rose Volk, Mary Gumble, and an infant brother.
