Albert John Bachman was born Nov. 22, 1923 the fourth child of homesteaders, John and Hilda (Fredrickson) Bachman. He grew up on the ranch where he was born and attended the Bachman rural school near home. He began to love the ranch life at an early age, riding horseback to school and working with his family. He loved rodeo and racing horses. In 1945 he began shearing with a crew in Wyoming and worked his way back to Faith to shear in the late summer. In Jan of 1946 he joined the U. S. Army and was discharged from Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland in April of 1947. He returned to the ranch to work with his parents.

On Oct. 4, 1947 he was united in marriage to Leone Nygaard at Dupree, SD and they began their life together on the ranch, raising their family of four daughters and two sons. He was a proud and loving husband and father and raised his children in the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He took great pride in his livestock, loved to put up the hay and feed and although appearing a serious person, loved to pull practical jokes on family and friends. He also was proud to have won the 1951 " Forty Mile Horse Race" on his mount "Redwood". He loved playing cribbage, monopoly and being home. But above all this was his love for his family, especially his grandchildren, remembering all of their birthdays and patiently and lovingly caring for his wife for many years. Leone passed away in August of 1997 and he was proud and thankful to continued to ranch with his son.

Albert passed away suddenly the evening of Sept. 29, 2005 at his ranch home southeast of Faith.

Most grateful for sharing his life are his 6 children; 19 grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Linda Hofland, grandson, Shane Bachman, his brothers, Edwin, Erwin and sister Leah Schilling.

Funeral Services for Albert J. Bachman, 81, lifelong Faith area rancher will be on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 2 PM at the Faith Community Center. Rev. William Russow will officiate and interment will be in the Faith Cemetery.
