MANTEO - Allen Aldridge, 44, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness. Allen was born in Kinston and graduated from Arendell Parrott Academy in 1986. He earned a B.S. degree in mathematics from Wake Forest University and an M.S. in mathematics from N.C. State University. He worked as a math instructor at the College of the Albemarle in Manteo where he lived. Allen was an active member of the Manteo Lions Club. He loved kayaking, his nephews and nieces, and Wake Forest sports. GO DEACS! Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Hildred Howard Aldridge. He is survived by his father, Shade Aldridge, of Kinston, his sister, Pam and husband Steve Mazingo, nephews, Stephen Mazingo and wife Abigail, Rob Hudson, and Ridge Mazingo and one niece, Cally Hudson. Two services will be held on Tuesday, July 31. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at COA in Manteo and at 6:00 pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Kinston with Rev. A. Michael Singer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the services and other times at the home of Pam and Steve Mazingo, 519 Greenridge Road, Snow Hill, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to COA Foundation-Dare Campus, 132 Russell Twiford Rd., Manteo, 27954. Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
