Newton Bryson "Newt" was born February 11, 1929 in Louisiana, Missouri, and passed away October 10, 2013, in Dallas, Texas. He was a graduate of University of Missouri with a bachelor's in History and Journalism. Newt was a member of Kappa Alpha Mu and served in the Air Force as a First Lieutenant from 1954-56. He was Editor of Eastern Indiana Publishing 1957-58 and was owner/Publisher of Wood County Democrat in Quitman, TX 1959-74. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly. Survived by their two sons, Newton Bohan, and Peter Lynn; granddaughter McKenzie St. Regis; wife of 34 years, Mary; step-children, Colleen, Burl Jr. and Cheryl; 2 step-granddaughters; 2 step-great granddaughters and one step-great grandson. Newt met Mary in square dancing in 1979. He continued in square dancing as President of Stone Steppers SQ and RD many times and Rambling Rounders up until his death. He is loved by many friends in square dancing. Newt and Mary enjoyed many countries that they were able to see in their travels and on cruises. The family will receive friends, Monday, October 14, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held, 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery.
