She was born in Waverly, Ohio on November 10, 1934 to Clyde and Margaret (Blair) Arrowood.
She held several prestigious positions over the years, including executive secretary to Jimmy Faulkner, president and founder of Loyal American Insurance; executive assistant to Jimmy Faulkner, when he was running for governor of the state of Alabama. She also worked at Charity Hospital in New Orleans; and finally retired from General Motors as Executive Secretary to the Plant Manager. She and her family enjoyed traveling in their motor home and have visited 49 of the 50 states. She was the National Vice President of The American Ski Association and enjoyed the many skiing trips throughout the nation. She was the owner and manager of Arrowood Apartments. Her family roots can be traced back to the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband Gene, whom she married June 3, 1967, her children Rosina (Jonathan) Fischer and Garret (Meredith) Venetta both of Pickerington. Grandchildren Lilianna and Vanessa Fischer and Braedan, Gavin, and Collin Venetta. Brother William Arrowood of Dayton, Niece Pam (Frank ) Howard, Nephew Thomas Arrowood Jr. great-nieces; Ryan and Sarah and Great Nephews Christopher and Vincent Arrowood. Also surviving are several in-laws, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents Joann is preceded in death by her brother Bernard T. Arrowood.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY 550 Hill Rd. North (St. Rte. 256), where service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM; with son-in-law Pastor Jonathan Fischer officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
