Sarah ROUSE was born to Amos ROUSE and Elizabeth "Betsy" SHAEFFER on 9 Mar 1818 in New York.

Sarah married Stephen ORCUTT in about 1835 in Vermont. They had the following children:
Eustacia Ward ORCUTT Archer, 1836–1894, m. John Wallace ARCHER.
Elon Huntington ORCUTT 1839–1917, m. Martha Cornal DARLING.
Gorden S. ORCUTT 1840–1848, died young.
Frances S. ORCUTT 1843–1870, died aged 17.
Emily A. ORCUTT 1847–1857, died young.
Lucinda Amelia ORCUTT Bowen, 1849–1907, m. Aldrich BOWEN.
Emma Eudora ORCUTT Hayes, 1857–1927, m. Franklin John HAYES.
Horace Stephen ORCUTT 1859–1928, remained single.
Arthur D. ORCUTT 1861–1928, m. Nettie VanBLARCUM.
one more child, according to 1900 census. Possibly a stillbirth, or died very young.

MRS. SARAH ORCUTT.
Mrs. Sarah Orcutt, widow of the late Stephen H. Orcutt, died at the home of her son, Arthur, in this village Sunday at the ripe age of 83
years, 8 months, and 16 days. Her maiden name was Sarah Rouse and she was born March 9, 1818, at White Creek, N. Y. November 19, 1834, she was married to Stephen H. Orcutt. With her husband they came to Otsego in 1862, where she has since resided. Ten children were born to them, five of whom are living, namely: Mrs.
Lucinda Hubbard of Rutland, Vt., E. H. Orcutt of Kalamazoo: Horace Orcutt of Marian, Ind., and Mrs. Charles Kimball and Arthur Orcutt of this place. Her husband died September 18, 1870, and she has since lived in widowhood. At the early age of 15 years she united, with the Baptist church and has always lived a consistent christian life. The testimony of those who visited her in these later years give evidence of her bright hope of eternal joy. The funeral sermon was preached at the house at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, by the Rev. John Fletcher of Plainwell. Her remains were placed in Mountain Home cemetery.
