Francis Marion Barr

Francis Marion Barr, 82, long time citizen of Laclede County, died Monday afternoon 11 March in the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Hershel Fleming on north Madison Avenue.

Funeral services were at the White Oak Pond Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday conducted by the Rev. Ralph Manes assisted by Rev. R. B. Carnett.

Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Palmer Funeral Home.

Francis Marion Barr was born near Horse Cave, Kentucky but brought to Laclede County as a small boy.

He married Sarah Josephine Druen 13 Sept. 1877 and several children were born. A son William Elmer died in infancy and the six others include Mrs. J H Edwards, Mrs. J T Edwards, both of Lebanon, Mrs. E M Brown, Pasco, WA, Russell Barr, Bellingham, WA, Willard Barr, Tekamah, Nebraska, and Mrs. Clarence DeVasure of Tekamah, Nebraska.

Mr. Barr was converted in early life and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and lived a life consistent with its teachings.
