Myrtle Ball, age 91 years, 6 months, and 18 days, of the Bethel community passed away Saturday, January 29, 2005 in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Smith, Bro. Geo H. Sexton, and Bro. Janus Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery. She was born July 11, 1913 to Perry Godsey and Abbie Neeley Godsey. Myrtle was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she was very active in church activities including WMU. She worked as a cook at Pine Knot Elementary before her retirement. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. But her greatest pleasure came from cooking and caring for her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Rev. Phillip H. Ball, whom she married June 25, 1938, a step daughter, Nila Kidd, [mother seems to be june olive Gilreath] a brother, Robert Godsey, four sisters, Mary Hardin, Minnie Neal, Ethel Strunk, and Olamae Wright, and a grandson, Christopher Ball. Survivors include four sons, Roger Ball and his wife, Donna, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Ray M.
