Frank Simon Armi, Jr., a flight officer, took part in the campaigns for the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Germany. He earned the Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Presidential Unit Citation. He joined the Air Corps in June, 1941, training first at Camp Roberts and then at Lubbock, Texas. Frank was graduated from Hanford Union High School in 1936. He was the son of Frank Simon Armi, Sr., and Mildred (Montz).
Frank Simon Armi, a former Hanford, California resident, died in a Watsonville, California, hospital age 74 years. He was born in Oregon and raised in Hanford, California. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a glider pilot. He owned and operated Armi Auto Parts in Hanford for many years and was well known as a race driver in midget auto circles. He also raced at the Indianapolis Speedway several times. He worked for Universal Pictures for 37 years before retiring and moving to Watsonville 11 years prior to his death.
