Last Saturday night at 11 o’clock, Mrs. Howard R. LOWDER passed away, after six months of suffering, surrounded by her family, husband, two daughters, Mildred, and Mrs. L. S. FORBES, and the many friends that she had drawn to her by many years of kindness and love. She was patient and hopeful at all times and although in constant pain, she uttered no word of complaint and continually had words of cheer for those about her during the last illness. Julia KISSELL was born in Ohio, March 27, 1849, and was married to Howard R. LOWDER at Indianapolis, April 6, 1865, the day following his honorable discharge as a soldier for the union in the civil war. She was a kind, unselfish disposition, always thoughtful of the pleasure and comfort of others, rather than herself. Her life, like a beautiful flower, developed, breathed its fragrance for the benefit of others, blasted and perished. She will live in the memory of her family and friends because of her many kindnesses. Her life has shed its sunlight around her. We are better and stronger because of it. She rests in peace. The funeral service was held at the family residence in Bloomfield, last Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. H. ALLEN, of the M. E. church, assisted by Mr. F. M. DUGGER, after which the remains, followed by a large number of mourning relatives and friends, were conveyed to the Bloomfield cemetery for interment.
