Mrs. Catherine Gross died at her late residence, near Kingsway, OH, December 8, of paralysis, aged 62 years, less 4 days. The funeral services were held Tuesday December 10, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. W.A. Bowman. The deceased, whose maiden name was Wolf, was born in Hattmat, County of Zabern, Alsace, Germany, December 12, 1833. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1853 she came to Sandusky County and to Rice Township where she resided until her death.
She was married to John Gross in 1857 and was the mother of 5 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom are living; as well as 19 grandchildren and other relatives. She was a kind and devoted mother. During the past 3 years she suffered much, but during it all she bore up with Christian fortitude.
