AUGUSTA -- Sally Lynn Partridge-Leavitt, 71, of Augusta, passed peacefully away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. She was born to the late Linwood and Madeline Smart-Partridge on March 21, 1942.
She grew up in Augusta and attended Cony High School, graduating in 1960. She started her career at Central Maine Power Co. in 1961 and worked there until 1977, when she became a stay-at-home mom. She returned to the workforce in 1988 with the Augusta School Department as an education technician and retired in 2004.
On June 4, 1966, she married the love of her life, James B. Leavitt. They purchased their first and only home on Togus Pond and had three children together. Sally loved spending time with her family; it was one of her passions. Some of Sally's other enjoyments were spending time at the family camp in The Forks, where she spent much of her time four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Sally loved good food and socializing and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, James B. Leavitt, of Augusta; her daughter Nicole Leavitt-Wadleigh; her daughter Shannon Leavitt-Pulsifer, and husband Jody Pulsifer; her son, Tyson Leavitt; her grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Marissa, Jonathan Wadleigh and James Pulsifer; her sister, Sondra Partridge-Fairbrother, and husband Richard Fairbrother; and many other family members.
Sally requested a private funeral with her immediate family. The family wishes to thank all of those who have cared for her over the last month and the family and friends who came to see her in the hospital. She was the matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed for many years to come.
