CARLIN BALFOUR DRAKE DEAD; HERE FOR BURIAL
Carlin Balfour Drake, aged 47 years 7 months and 4 days and son of the late A. G. Drake, died in Topeka, Kas., Tuesday of last week and the body was brought here for burial Friday. The funeral service was held that afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. C. A. Budd officiating and burial being in Oak Hill cemetery. He is survived by his wife, four brothers, one sister and a step-mother, Mrs. A. G. Drake.
Carlin Balfour Drake was born January 3, 1874, in Chetopa. He remained here until young manhood, when he went to Texas, where he was employed in newspaper work with his brother. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church in his early youth and his life was characterized by a deep religious spirit. He was never in robust health, but bore the discomfort of the disease that afflicted him, with fortitude.
