Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Omaha. Died Friday, October 4, 2013, at 8:54pm in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nellie was born September 26, 1933 in New Canton, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Sylvia Hughes Sims. She married Ronald Lorenzo Howlett on May 4, 1951 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2009. Fran attended Quincy High School. She was a homemaker and co-owner and treasurer of Omaha Steel Castings from 1987 until 2008. She was a member of North Scottsdale United Methodist Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. Survivors include three children, Terry (Liza) Howlett of Phoenix, AZ, Pam Joy of Scottsdale, and Ronald D. (Leslie) Howlett of Phoenix; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marion Wagner of Mount Sterling, IL, June (Warren) Anderson of Quincy, and Christine (Dick) Stuart of Quincy. In addition to her husband, Fran was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Patti Howlett, two brothers, Calvin Sims and Coolidge Sims, and three sisters, Irene Akers, Rosalie Mendenhall and Marcell Akers. SERVICES 1:30pm Monday, October 14, 2013 in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Scott Grulke officiating. Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. VISITATION 12:30pm-1:30pm Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
