James Calvin Teeples, age 89, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his residence.


Mr. Teeples was born January 31, 1924 in Limestone County to James Thomas Teeples and Flora Myrtle Steelman Teeples.


He was a member of the Hays Mill Church of Christ. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired from Teeples Garage where he was the owner and operator. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 49.


He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel Black Teeples; son, Larry Teeples and wife Tamara; daughter, Barbara Teeples; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Benton Black and wife Louise; and his pet dog, Alli.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Flora Teeples; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.


Funeral services will be Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Stanley McNatt and David Harwell officiating.
