Born April 21, 1899, in Allen County, Mr. Gierhart was the son of Dora D. and Della Tussing Gierhart. He married Lillian E. Keller and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. James A. (Dorothy) Coon of 819 Catalpa; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Gierhart was a repairman for Neon Products and retired in 1964. He was known for his hand-tied fishing baits, which were sold in many sporting goods and drug stores in Lima and the area.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday in Siferd's Main Street Chapel, where funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
